I have practised Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for more than 35 years. After repeatedly being rejected for medicine, I decided to study physiotherapy. After having worked as a physiotherapist for 6 years, I was introduced to acupuncture by my GP. My choice was quickly made: I followed the basic training in acupuncture at the Pakua and Nei Jing training.
I studied Chinese herbs with Giovanni Maciocia in London and in China, and also in the Netherlands. Several internships in the field of acupuncture and herbs followed in China.
Soon after my graduation, I was offered a teaching position at Nei Jing. I have taught at several schools and since 2009 I have been associated with Qing Bai, Academy of Chinese Medicine in Nijmegen. I still follow refresher courses enthusiastically to deepen my knowledge. Of course, I also follow the compulsory refresher courses in Western medicine.
In 2007, I did research on the effect of Chinese herbs on menopause complaints. This pilot clearly proved that Chinese herbs can be used very well on menopause complaints. The research report can be downloaded at www.sciencedirect.com.
